It’s been a pleasure working with the Semeli Hotel in Nicosia and would like to thank them for giving us the opportunity to facilitate a two-day workshop for managers and supervisors, on improving competitiveness through teamwork.
According to an African proverb, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”.
So, is having a ‘great team’ the only prerequisite for business success? Is that all it takes for an organization to improve its competitiveness, in today’s business environment?
Well, sure, some other important factors, a few more ‘ingredients’ are required to create a ‘winning recipe’ – strategy, resources, operations, to name a few.
A great strategy implemented by a mediocre team, will most often fail. Resources and systems, even if optimum at a certain point in time, will not be sustainable in the longer term, if managed by a weak management team.
On the other hand, a great team will always find the way to put together the pieces of the puzzle, work their way through getting things right, even if in the shorter term they may face challenges (and all teams do from time to time).
During our initial meeting with the top management of Semeli Hotel, for discussing their learning objectives and priorities, it quickly became clear to us that this is exactly the sort of ‘mindset’ they have and how they approach the issue of people and team development in their organisation.
We are so glad we were assigned with the task of helping an already strong team acquire additional skills, tools and knowledge, to achieve even more as a team!
